My name is Spence and I am an Assistant Lighthouse Keeper for the Canadian Coast Guard. My job is to work and maintain a station along the BC coast and keep the Lighthouse and grounds in good standing. There are 27 staffed Lighthouses on the BC West Coast, both on Vancouver Island and the straights between the island and the mainland and they all have 2 keepers who live there year round. I hope to be able to visit as many of those Lighthouses as I can and for each one I will document them and video them to the best of my ability so everyone can get a chance to see what it is like to live as a Lighthouse keeper. It is a unique and solitary lifestyle yet has many advantages that you just don't get living in the city.
