The Arhoolie Foundation’s Strachwitz Frontera Collection of Mexican American and Mexican recordings is the largest such archive in the world. The archive contains over 160,000 songs on 78s, 45s, LPs, cylinders, cassettes, CDs, and reel to reel master tapes. Collected over the past 60 years by Chris Strachwitz the archive originally focused on music of the Texas/Mexican border area. We seek to provide access to these important recordings. We do not make any money from these recordings. Through our preservation efforts we hope that musicians, recording labels and publishers can find these recordings which may not exist anywhere else.
