Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) is the oldest scheme running in any Ministry of Govt of India. The 1st JSS was established in the year 1967 in Worli, Mumbai as Shramik Vidyapeeth. The name was changed and renamed as JSS in the year 2000. At present there are 333 JSS all over India and 13 in North East. JSS are district based skilling institutes. In the year 2018, JSS has been shifted to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt of India JSS Jorhat was established on the 2nd Oct 2004. Since its inception, JSS Jorhat has been engaged in creating a skill pool of resources in the Jorhat district of Assam, India. The channel intends to showcase the importance of Skill Education as a way of livelihood and to promote and popularise Skill Education.
