I'm a semi-retired academic at a Sydney university, lecturing on a Masters Program in the field of Semiotic Theory. I'm seriously travel addicted, having lived in or journeyed extensively through Europe, the Middle East and Asia. I've been to such diverse and far-flung places as Inner Mongolia, Nepal, Kashmir, Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Iran, Russia and Japan. My interests include writing short stories, horse-riding, abseiling, swimming, theatre, opera and dance. In my first life, long ago and far away, I studied dance at the Australian Dance Theatre with, among others, Rex Reid, an ex-Ballet Rambert principal and sometime partner of Moira Shearer.
