“I SAID: YOU ARE GODS.” (John 10:34) Jesus said this when he was accused of blasphemy — for “making himself God.” But he wasn’t inventing anything new. He was directly quoting Psalm 82:6. In English it is translated as “You are gods.” But in the original text, the word is not “gods.” Jesus said it in Hebrew: ANI AMARTI: ELOHIM ATEM. Which literally means: “I said: You are Elohim.” Elohim is the very first name of the Creator in Genesis. And in Hebrew, Elohim is plural. This changes everything. God is not “someone” apart from us. God is One — appearing as Many. You, me, everyone — identical cores of one shared Divine consciousness. That is the real meaning of “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Not metaphor. Not poetry. ELOHIM ARE YOU.
