RIVR's story—like that of many Indigenous peoples—is rooted in both deep tradition and relentless determination. For generations, the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians have stewarded the land and waters of our territory in Southern California, embodying a legacy of conservation, preservation, and resilience. Despite facing difficult challenges to our sovereignty, we have preserved our cultural traditions, ecological knowledge, and commitment to sustainable living—continuing to shape our community and the broader region through both environmental and cultural leadership. Today, we continue to lead through example—hosting community events, developing youth programs, protecting the ecosystem that sustains us, and building successful ventures that will provide for the future seven generations—demonstrating that culture is not confined to the past; it thrives in the present and shapes the future.
