The Sendai International Music Competition (SIMC) started in 2001 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Sendai City. The competition, which is held every three years, aims to boost the careers of talented young musicians, and thereby contributing to the promotion of music and international cultural exchange. 仙台国際音楽コンクールは、仙台市が開府四百年を記念して200 1年に創設し、3年毎に行うコンクールです。才能ある若い音楽家を輩出することにより、世界の音楽文化の振興及び国際的文化交流の推進に寄与することを目的としています。
