▶ While living at the zen temple I learned about asceticism: A single-minded devotion & persistence towards a goal. I saw the beauty in a monk who had devoted his life single-mindedly to a meditation practice or a sushi chef that whole-heartedly practices making the best sushi he possibly can. There are wonderful poems, paintings, films and books written when someone deeply devotes themselves to something.
