WALK ON THE SAFE SIDE Founded in 1910 in Uedem on the Lower Rhine by Johann van Elten. His vision was the breakthrough of modern safety footwear as we know it today: the revolutionary invention of the first ELTEN safety shoe, made of leather instead of wood as was common at the time. Today, we are one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality safety and occupational footwear in Europe, employing more than 350 people with an annual production of around three million pairs of shoes. Based on this tradition, which is closely linked to the personal commitment of every individual in our company, people, their protection, and safety are at the centre of our work. In 2022, we were awarded "Brand of the Century" - and thus belong to the royal class of German brands. Every three years, the ZEIT publishing group awards brands that are firmly established in the public consciousness and are exemplary in their area of expertise through their achievements.
