Doom is more of a mindset than music. To underlie this thesis with music, just tune in to the way Moor from Hamburg play it and let yourself be run over by a sound that smells of doom and yet promises redemption. Catharsis through pain is almost a platitude, a cliché. But it does work. Living proof is Moor, a band that requires more than any other that came before them to chisel the obligatory appendage "Post" in front of their barrel-chested doom. Yes, Moor (whose German name loosely yet fittingly translates to "bog") are wearing the insignia of the genre, are fully aware of the fact that doom is something that happens between the notes. Down there somewhere, deep in the gut. But Moor are also children of a libertarian Hamburg school where DIY ethos is not just something that is said lightly and which lets doom, punk, sludge and hardcore collide without fear.
