ALAE Comprised of multi-instrumentalists Alex Farrell-Davey and Allister Meffan, drummer Jayden Lee and bassist Marika Hodgson, emerging New Zealand band Alae are poised to take their brand of indie pop to the world. Riding a crest of creativity and inspired by the growth of the band and their evolution of sound, Alae took to the studio to write and record their full-length debut album Henry St which released in October 2018. Henry St rocketed straight to #1 on both the iTunes alternative and IMNZ charts in New Zealand, sending further shockwaves to the USA with inclusion within Spotify’s prestigious New Music Friday playlists for singles Stone Cold and Too Strung Up. Combined with College Radio adds to over 40 stations and features in Billboard.com, MTV AUNZ, Rolling-stone and a selection of US tastemaker blogs, Alae officially began to make their international mark. Thanks to a songwriting pairing between Alex Farrell-Davey and acclaimed producer Justin Gray during the APRA AMCOS Songhubs initiative in New Zealand, Alae have forged a new relationship with USA label Anti-Gravity records, and a deal with Warner Music Canada. Their latest EP was recorded over two weeks in May, in Los Angeles with Justin whose previous credits include John Legend, Avril Lavigne and Amy Winehouse to name but a few.
